Retro Reel by Sreepathy, Volume 13

Retro Reel is a column about movies, but not about the latest box-office releases. There will be aspects of review, but the column is intended more as a recommendation of good movies of different genres, with the sense of a retrospective

Im not 30 plus, and I HAVE seen Anand…and evidently, so has my uncle 😛
I was waiting for this review coz I know of your affection to its songs and also because I have grown up listening to the praise of this movie. Hence, watching it a millionth time never hurts.
This movie happens to be a personal favourite of mine and you have truly brought out its essence. Especially that of the climax. I can never get over that scene of ‘Babu moshai..’ and the overture of ‘Koi Hota Jisko Apna’ rising, as the movie fades. Never.
For one of the best movies in Indian Cinema and one of the most lovable directors of it- you’ve done justice to this movie. Kudos ;D

Im not 30 plus, and yes, my uncle AND I have watched Anand ;D I was in fact waiting for your review on Anand, with respect to your affection for its songs.
And yes, when Rajesh Khanna passed away, the only performance that did come to mind was that of Anand..and ‘Mere Sapnon ki Rani’ 😛
And yes, this movie is staggering and tires you by making you think about life …or what you didnt think about it. And you have given credit to the climax of Anand which is why I love this review more, because not only is Anand one of my favourite movies but the ‘Babumoshai…’ and the overture os ‘Koi Hota Jisko Apna’…I still cannot place the emotion it brings out in me.
This movie is a personal favourite of Amma, Akka, Appa and me. One of the finest pieces of Indian cinema made by one of the most brilliant directors.
You have done it justice, dear uncle.
    Kudos ;D

My all time favorite as well – seen it 7 times.Very apt review and feedback on the characters and the message behind. One has to feel the movie than just see it.
