Did you know there’s more than one way to do cardio in order to lose weight?

Most people only know about the 1st way, which is to run (or bike, etc.) at a steady state for about 30-60 minutes. Typically people keep their heart rate at about 60% of their maximum and just keep fairly consistent throughout the workout.

However, there are 2 other popular ways of doing cardio for weight loss and they just may be far more effective.

One way is through interval based sprinting. This consists of sprinting for 10-60 seconds and then resting for about twice as long as you just sprinted before starting up again. (There are hundreds of ways to perform sprints but this is the most common version, which is very effective)

The 3d way is called fartlek training. This is a fun way of doing cardio, which mixes up various distances and intensities within one workout.

So the next time you get bored with your current routine, or you feel like you’re stuck at a plateau I highly recommend changing things up and trying to mix in other forms of cardio to improve your weight loss results. I know that this is sometimes a confusing topic so I’ll be sure to follow up with additional posts in the future, which will further explain each type of training.
