19 -year- old black woman was shot dead this Saturday by a white resident in a suburb of Detroit.
Renisha McBride got into a car accident in Dearborn Heights last Saturday. Her cell phone had run out of battery so she thought of asking help from one of the residents. She knocked on the door of the nearest house, instead of receiving any help she was brutally shot to dead by the resident.
Jezebel.com reports Weirdly, Dearborn Heights police initially told McBride’s family that her body was found dumped in another area of town, but they’ve since changed their story, saying she was shot in self-defense on the homeowner’s front porch. Naturally, Michigan is a Stand Your Ground state — sound familiar?
If the white resident felt scared of a black teen the right thing perhaps should have been to call 911 –not shoot!
“He shot her in the head … for what? For knocking on his door,” McBride’s aunt Bernita Spinks told the Detroit News. “If he felt scared or threatened, he should have called 911.”
Bernita Spinks, the aunt of the teen feels it’s a case of racism and is seeking justice. Police have revealed the shooter to be a White male in his 50s.
