A 17-year-old girl out on a morning walk was allegedly abducted and gangraped by two people in Outer Delhi’s Aman Vihar area Sunday, police said.
Locals claimed to have found the Class XI student almost 12 hours after she went missing, lying in a room, gagged and hands tied. The locals also claimed to have caught the two men suspected of abducting and raping her from the same house.
After rescuing the girl, irate locals thrashed the two suspects and also tonsured their heads, police sources said.
Police have arrested the suspects, identified as Naushad and Mohammed, both from Uttar Pradesh. “The medical reports have confirmed rape and we have arrested them,” Ghanshyam Bansal, Additional DCP (Outer), said Monday. He said the police were conducting an investigation into the mob beating the accused. According to the police, the accused work in a jeans manufacturing company in the area and recently rented a room in the locality.
Talking about how the girl was rescued, a local said after a massive search people spotted a house which was locked from outside, but the lights were on. “The area has people mostly from economically weaker families. For a long time the lights and a fan of that house were switched on. We broke it open and found two men lying in their underwear,” he said. “There was one more room in which the girl was lying, gagged and hands tied.” After she narrated her ordeal, locals gave the two a through beating, sources said. People tore their clothes and tonsured their heads before a police team arrived at the spot, the sources added.
Police said the accused were sent to jail after a case was registered in Aman Vihar Police Station based on the victim’s statement under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and other sections of IPC.
