Fake Police Expected to Solve Crimes? Happens Only in India

For 3 months, fake cop worked in TN police station

The 21-year-old youth, who posed as a constable and assisted regular policemen at the Vyasarpadi station for over three months, was arrested on Wednesday near Katpadi and brought to the city. On being questioned, Hariharan confessed to having committed the offence, the police said. He was later remanded in judicial custody.
According to the police, the youth, Hariharan, had been on the run since Monday last when a policeman investigated and found that Hariharan’s identity card was fake.

Though the personnel at the Vyasarpadi police station allegedly tried to hush up the matter, an intelligence report submitted to police commissioner T Rajendran revealed the case in detail.

Under instructions from the commissioner, the Vyasarpadi police registered a case under IPC Sections 419 (punishment for impersonation), 420 (cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document).

Since then, he frequented the police station on a regular basis until the issue came to light.
